Help when using Search

The search facility has been updated so that vistors to the website can search the text of memories or the photogallery.

The search box, shown above, allows visitors to the website to search either the text of the memories on the website or the description of images in the photogallery.

To use the search facility enter the text you are going to use as your search, for example Police. Then put the spot in to either the Memory Text or Photo Gallery selection and click the Search button.

The memories search facility on this website will look at the content and title of all the memories held on the site and display a list of all memories that contain your search word or phrase.

The search facilites for the photogallery are similar except that you will be shown a series of thumbnails that match your search text.

The search facility is designed to give a result on any given instance of that word, for example, if you search on the word war, then any memory with the word war in it will be in the results. This will include the words of war, wartime, that you will be searching for, but it will also include words such as wards and warm which you are not searching for.

If you want the search results to only contain the word war then put a space after the word.

100 Memory Challenge

Staff and volunteers in the RPRF project have launched a ‘one hundred memory’ challenge and we’d be delighted if any of our website visitors would like to be part of it.

The aim is to collect 100 new memories by 31st March 2012 and display them on our website.  Memories can cover any subject that has a connection to North Tyneside in the 20th Century and they can be short or long, poetry, prose, spoken, photographic etc, etc.

Each contributor will get a presentation set of their memory, which makes a nice gift for members of the family.

If you’d like to find out more or send in a draft of your memory please use the ‘Contact Us’ page on the website.
